Paper discussion
Akin to the Faraday Discussions of the Royal Society of Chemistry, our Paper Discussion will have a special format to discuss one research papers that we selected among the recent papers published in the field of Photonics by Belgian research groups. This year, Prof. Vincent Ginis from VUB will present his paper “Resonators with tailored optical path by cascaded-mode conversions” published in Nature Communications (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-35956-9).
Participants are warmly invited to read the selected paper ahead of our meeting. In the session, the speakers will summarise the key findings of their papers within 5 min. The rest of the time slot (i.e., the main part of it) will be devoted to discussion, in which all attendees can participate.
With such a special session, we aim at developing this format of presentation that fosters interaction between the speakers and the audience. All attendees at the meeting, will have the opportunity to make comments, ask questions, or even present complementary or contradictory measurements and calculations during the discussion.
Moreover, participants are encouraged to read and comment the paper on Perusall (https://www.perusall.com/), an online social annotation platform. On this platform, participants may comment the paper, ask questions, and reply to other attendees' comments and questions prior to bePOM 2023.
In addition, questions can be asked in-person or online (in the chat) during the paper discussion session or can be previously sent by email to info@bepom.org.
